How it began
Since the rise of the AIDS epidemic in Asia, the need for a multisectoral response has become eminent as this region lacks adequate public resources to effectively control the disease.
Businesses - possessing management know-how, marketing skills, creativity, efficient organizational structures and access to communities - find themselves in an
unique position to play a vital role in response to AIDS.
By developing workplace prevention programs, non-discriminatory policies, partnerships with
the public sector and community activities, businesses are able to stop the
socio-economic depletion of resources as a result of the epidemic. AEGIS
