Vision
As AIDS poses a significant threat to human and economic resources in Asia, businesses look for effective solutions to protect their interests. The need for HIV/AIDS prevention in the workplace is eminent, especially in emerging markets where public resources are constrained. Working through the private sector to prevent HIV/AIDS is effective, cost-efficient and sustainable. Effective:companies provide access to large populations of highly productive workers who are between 25-49 years old, an age-group that is especially vulnerable to HIV/AIDS.
Cost-efficient:corporate resources, such as organizational structures and training capacities, can with relative ease be utilized to fight AIDS.
Sustainable:management of HIV/AIDS in the workplace prevents costs that are incurred by the growing AIDS epidemic. Companies will thus perceive the tangible and intangible benefits, such as increased workplace morale and positive corporate reputation and employer's image, and continue what is good for their business.
Businesses possess a wealth of marketing and management experience, the drive to innovate and cross-boundary organization structures, that - if used to fight HIV/AIDS -
have the potential to stop the further spread of HIV and alleviate the needs of people living with AIDS. Mission
Our mission is to facilitate business responses to HIV/AIDS in Asia. To achieve this, we work together with both businesses and service providers.
Facilitation to business partners
ABC on AIDS simplifies the creation and implementation of HIV/AIDS workplace programs by giving businesses access to an international service providers network that has the capacity to implement regionwide, as well as local business responses to HIV/AIDS.
Facilitation to service providers
ABC on AIDS provides network services to strengthen partners' capacities to advocate to companies ('to speak the business language') and to provide technical assistance to companies, such as workplace training and policy consultation. Strategy
The facilitation of business responses to HIV/AIDS is achieved by two strategies:
(1) Coordinated advocacy to regional corporate headquarters in Asia.
(2). Strengthening of local service provision by managing a service providers network.
